I never realized how much I enjoy blogging until I began this class and creating a blog was a requirement. I started off thinking that I would only use it for homework purposes, but now that this class has come to an end, I really think I might take all of the information I’ve learned and start blogging on a more frequent basis. It’s much more fun than I expected it to be! I’ve learned so much during the past year at specs howard, I’m excited to be near the end, but nervous (and excited) to actually have to go out there and use the information and skills that i’ve acquired.

I wanted to make my logo similar to the apple logo, but specifically for the ipod. I did this by adding symbols that can be found on the ipod.

This weekend was ever so enjoyable. I spent it in Merrill, MI (the middle of nowhere) for a weekend long concert/camp out. It made me realize how much I would love to have my own house on a property like this. The guy who lives there has a pretty tragic story as to how he acquired the property. His family died and he was left with this house on a huge property with a barn and a very nice house. He mowed paths out through his giant field and little pods where everyone sat up their tents while bands played in the barn. We also had a bonfire that lasted all night. It was really laid back and since the property was so huge, we had all the privacy we needed and were able to do anything we really wanted, without having to worry about noise or neighbors or anything. As much as I enjoy city life from time to time, I don’t think that’s the life for me. If I could go back and spend my entire summer there in a tent, I would do it in a second.

I am now currently doing my homework in my back yard around a bonfire with a bunch of my friends and it’s the perfect way to end a very nice weekend.

I am currently in New Orleans. My entire family is out in the city, exploring and drinking hurricanes (a popular cocktail in New Orleans… Some how they’re comfortable with this name) while I’m in the hotel doing homework! Even though I had to take a day off the festivities, I’m still having a wonderful time. The culture here is entirely different from anything I’m used to. Everyone is constantly in a fantastic mood, people are drinking alcohol in to-go cups on the street in the middle of the day, every other building is a strip club, the food is fantastic and horses are a very common form of transportation. I can’t decide whether this place exists solely for tourists, or if people actually live here, in which case, they must all live fabulous lives, because every day is a party for these people.

I want to live in New Orleans.

Sun Worship

I’ve never been much of a religious person. I’m a skeptic. I question everything and don’t believe anything until I see proof. Some people believe in God. I believe in the sun.

This is why I am a sun worshipper:

To start off, I can see it, which helps the credibility along. Not only is the sun solely responsible for our existence, but it gives us exactly what we need every single day: heat, light, food, gravity, vitamin D (which allows us to be happy!), just to name a few.

Sun worship is very simple. There’s no mystery, no miracles, it doesn’t need any money and there are no songs or prayers to learn. The sun never tells me not worthy, it never tells me I’m a bad person who needs to be saved, hasn’t said any unkind words at all, treats me just fine. I worship the sun.

Almost two years ago, I moved out of my parents’ house into an old, decrepit, asbestos filled hell hole with four other room mates. The house was disgusting, so we decided to get a cat to make the house a bit more friendly. My room mate, Billy found a cat in his hometown of Midland, Michigan from a friend. After a long, selective name choosing process, we finally all agreed on the name “Kitty”. Not because it was the most clever, it was just the only name that really fit her. She’s a somewhat older cat, classy and sassy. We didn’t know she had such an attitude until we got Zoey. Zoey was my room mate Natalie’s parents’ cat. They weren’t taking very good care of him, so we brought him to live with us and Kitty. Zoey is the most lovable cat in the entire universe. He’s disgustingly obese, all white and covered in black spots (he looks like a baby cow). His nihilistic attitude is what makes him so lovable. That, and his insatiable appetite and he’ll let you hold him for however long you please. The moment Zoey and Kitty were forced to coexist in our home was the moment we realized Kitty hates everyone that is not a human. They were constantly at war… or she was, anyway. Zoey lacked the enthusiasm to carry on such a vicious quarrel, which really added to his charm. And hers.

Natalie and I then moved to Ferndale, Michigan with our friend Jessie and Zoey and Kitty came with us. We decided that two cats just weren’t enough for us, so when my boyfriend’s cat had kittens, we decided to take two of them. Their names are Bootsy and Dizzy and they’re the most adorable creatures on the planet. They’re best friends with one another and completely annoying. Zoey and the kittens became best friends with a little time, but Kitty has gone insane with hatred and wants absolutely nothing to do with anything on four legs.
